recent mailing boat dock fee.I and my wife are 23year part time residents of this lovely lake side community. We are very appreciative of the very fine hard working people who make this community function .The past couple of years the dock installation seams to neglect some of us who don't actively participate .specifically the docks on the outer end have no pipe connections, this causes severe movement which hastens the breakup of the aging connections.Additionally our rules call for only one boat in a slip.Does this mean it is okay to put a boat and a jet ski?The increase to $300.per slip means we are putting in approximately $6000.I don t believe it cost that much to put in and remove the docks.Shouldn't a rudimentary balance sheet be prepared to show how the monies are being allocated?I am sure that sooner or later these docks will be replaced but with no basic accounting or cost analysis it is difficult to calculate when this will happen.

with the mild winter . behind us perhaps it's time if we have some monies left in our budget to repair the pot holes that have started to eat at our roads. The eagles nest hill has some section of road that are washed down to the original layer

Last year at the meeting there was a lot of concern expressed about the sand being used at the beaches. I have been researching the issue since learning about it at the meeting and found SafeSand.com does bulk beach shipments that do not have the silica which is what is rightly concerning people. Can we see if this works into the budget. Thanks

Thanks for the comment. We added true "beach sand" this year. Please check out the beaches.....they look great.

Is there someone I can talk to about problems with the gate? Punching in our code doesn't work, and we've got some visitors coming who'll need to get in. Thanks!

Good morning Dan. All gate related questions should be directed to Melody Derby, CLE's official "Gate Keeper".

I would like to bring everyone's attention to an invasive weed - Black Swallowwort that is over taking Sunset Drive and other areas of the estate. It is on the list of CT invasive weeds and has ramifications on the Monarch butterfly life cycle too. I would like to organize a team to get together and pull it out before it seeds and proliferates further. Please check out this website for further information: http://www.uri.edu/cels/ceoc/documents/blackSwallowwort.pdf

Resident well being and safety is a concern during the winter months. On a recent day during a snow/ice storm both myself and my Husband had to abandon our cars due to no plow services at 6:00p.m. We both had to walk in the dark and snow/ice storm 1.5 miles home. We have also been late for work and missed days of employment due to late a.m. plowing or lack of proper plow services. This issue needs to be addressed especially where safety is a major concern.

Long time CLE resident Nicholas A. "Bud " Haller of Candlewood Lake Drive passed away at the age of 83 on January 27th, 2013. He was very active in the community on the (then) "A" beach committee, dock committee and the by-laws committee. His son Raymond and wife Lisa are CLE residents of Sunset Drive.
